Subject: MPs’ legal action against Government Green MP Caroline Lucas, Lib Dem MP Layla Moran and Labour MP Debbie Abrahams have joined Good Law Project (GLP) in taking legal action against the Government over its failure to account for £3bn spent on private contracts since lockdown.https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/oct/11/mps-launch-legal-action-against-uk-government-over-covid-contracts Good Law Project is of course also pursuing the Government over its Operation Moonshot, to expand the Covid-19 testing programme, to find out exactly whom the money will be paid to - after the British Medical Journal https://www.bmj.com/content/370/bmj.m3520 reported details of a leaked memo saying that the programme would cost £100bn and naming several private firms. “We asked whether they had already awarded contracts in connection with the secretive £100bn+ ‘Operation Moonshot’ and asked them to agree not to enter into any new contracts until we had had the opportunity to consider the supposed lawfulness of their ‘Moonshot’,” said GLP director Jolyon Maugham QC, adding that the Government’s reply https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZPBZtFiKQqA1cxx8AkLTeEmE5mGV69ze/view was ‘utterly inadequate.’ At the very least, please demand full accountability from your party leaders as to exactly whom the money for these contracts has been, and will be paid to. Then please call for the money to go to our NHS, rather than providing profits for private companies. We have a world-class nationwide system of health experts who are there to serve the public rather than profit from them - it makes no sense not to use it.
